Introduction:
Everyone talks about recovering from burnout. Nobody talks about what you are recovering toward. That distinction is the entire game.

The Year I Performed My Way Into Nothing

There was a version of me that had everything dialed.

The language was right. The positioning was right. The calendar was full. The output was high. From the outside, it looked like momentum.

From the inside, it felt like standing in a room where all the lights were on and nobody was home.

I was not burned out in the dramatic sense. I had not collapsed. I had not stopped.

I had just quietly become a very efficient machine running a program I had never consciously chosen.

And the terrifying part was how long I did not notice.

Because high performers are exceptionally good at performing. We can produce results in states that would stop most people. We can show up, execute, deliver — and never once be actually present for any of it.

That is not resilience.

That is dissociation with a good LinkedIn profile.

What finally cracked it open was not a breakdown.

It was a question someone asked me that I could not answer.

What do you actually want?

Not what I was building. Not what I was optimizing for. Not what made strategic sense given the trajectory.

What did I want.

I sat with that question for longer than I am comfortable admitting.

Because the honest answer was: I do not know. I have been moving so fast for so long that I stopped checking.

That was the beginning.

Not of recovery. Of return.

Return to the parts of me that had been running silently underneath all the performance, waiting for me to slow down enough to hear them.

That season taught me something I now consider foundational to this work.

You cannot regulate a life you are not actually living.

You can manage it. Optimize it. Sustain it for longer than you should.

But regulation — real regulation — requires contact with what is true.

And if you have been avoiding what is true in favor of what is productive, you're looking at a different kind of problem.

It is the only honest thing left in the room.

I built the Unstuck My Shit cohort for the version of me that existed in that season.

The founder who is executing but not arriving. Producing but not present. Moving fast in a direction they have not examined in longer than they want to admit.

Eight people. Four weeks. We do not add more strategies.

We return to what is true, and we build from there.
